Terms of Service

The short version: be kind, be honest, look after each other. The longer version is below.

Last updated: 19 July 2026

Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account, attending an Ummati event or using our website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who can join

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Ummati is a women's community, open to all women regardless of background, belief, race, ability, sexuality or life stage. It is a secular community: no religious affiliation is required or assumed.

Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Your account is yours alone. Do not share your login.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.

Membership and payments

  • There is a free tier. Paid tiers unlock additional benefits, described on the membership page.
  • Paid memberships are billed on a recurring basis through Stripe. You are charged the price shown at checkout.
  • Your membership renews automatically each billing period until you cancel.
  • You can cancel any time from your membership settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then.
  • We do not generally offer partial refunds for time already elapsed, but if something has gone wrong, contact us, we would rather sort it out.
  • If we change pricing, existing members will be given notice before it takes effect.

How we expect people to behave

Membership depends on treating other members well. Our Community Guidelines set out what is expected and what is not tolerated. Harassment, hate, and using the community to sell to members are grounds for removal.

Content you post

  • You keep ownership of what you post.
  • By posting, you give us permission to display and distribute it within the Ummati platform so the community can see it.
  • Only post content you have the right to share, and do not share other members’ private information.
  • We may remove content that breaches these terms or our guidelines, and we may suspend or close accounts that repeatedly do so.

Events

  • Events are organised by Ummati chapters or by partners. Details can change, and events can be cancelled.
  • You attend events at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety and belongings.
  • Some events are run by third parties on their own platforms and terms, for example ticketing partners.
  • If something happens at an event that makes you feel unsafe, tell us. We take it seriously.

Ending your membership

You can leave at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or our guidelines, or where we believe it is necessary to protect other members. Where it is fair to do so, we will explain why.

What we do not promise

We work hard to keep the service running and the community healthy, but we provide it “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we are not responsible for the conduct of individual members, either online or in person. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the community grows. We will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify members directly.
