We built the community we were looking for.
Ummati started with a simple, stubborn belief: every woman deserves a place where she is known, welcomed, and never alone. This is how it began, and where it is going.
Making real friendship possible, one city at a time.
Making friends as an adult is quietly one of the hardest things there is. You move for a job, you have a baby, you leave a relationship, you simply grow, and one day you look up and realize your circle got small.
Ummati exists to fix that. We bring women together in real life, in their own cities, around the things they already love: long walks, good books, honest conversation, and the occasional glass of wine. No pressure, no performance, no fine print.
Our promise is small and enormous at once. Show up, and you will not be alone. You will find women who get it, who save you a seat, and who become the people you call first.
A community with a thousand faces.
Thousands of women, every background and every stage of life, choosing to show up for each other.
Belonging, by the numbers.

The values that hold us together.
Belonging over networking
We are not here to trade business cards. We are here for the friend who texts you back, the group that saves you a seat, the people who make a new city feel like home.
Every woman welcome
Secular and open to all. Whatever your background, culture, age, or story, there is a place for you here. No barriers, no gatekeeping, no need to explain yourself.
Local by design
Real connection happens in the room, not the feed. Every chapter is rooted in a real city, with meetups you can actually walk into this week.
Show up as you are
No polished version required. Come tired, come new, come in between chapters of your life. You will be met with warmth exactly as you are.
Women lifting women
We cheer each other on. Career wins, hard seasons, new babies, fresh starts. Everyone here is invested in the woman next to her.
Consistency, not one-offs
Friendship is built on showing up again. Something is always on the calendar, so the second time is easy and the tenth time feels like family.
It began the way most good things do. Quietly.
From one living room to a community across the country. The details changed, the heart never did.
- 2021
One living room
A handful of women, new to a city and tired of being lonely, started meeting on Sunday evenings. No agenda, just company.
- 2022
The first chapter
Those Sundays grew into a real chapter with book clubs, hikes, and career nights. Word spread the way good things do, one friend at a time.
- 2023
City by city
Women in other cities asked for the same thing. We handed them the playbook and a little support, and new chapters began to open.
- Today
A community across the country
Thousands of women, dozens of circles, and hundreds of events a year. Still built on the same idea: everyone deserves to belong somewhere.
Not a club. Not a feed. Something better.
Plenty of things promise connection. Here is what actually sets Ummati apart.
It is not an app you scroll
The point is to close the app and go meet people. We measure success in coffees, hikes, and friendships, not screen time.
It is genuinely inclusive
No dues you cannot afford, no invisible checklist, no in-crowd. Free to join, warm to everyone, and led by women who mean it.
It is built to last
Chapters run on real people and a steady rhythm of events, so the community keeps growing long after your first meetup.
I moved here knowing no one. A year later, the women I met through Ummati are the ones I call family.

Joining takes two minutes and it is free to start. Your first meetup could be this week.
